This page shows you how to increase the AA battery life on a TPH module, anywhere from 6 months to 1 year depending on the type and health of the batteries you use.

If you’re here then you have probably been replacing good AA batteries in your TPH every week or so and are wondering why. Put simply, the default operating mode for the TPH is to enable several features that are rather power hungry but which are good, perhaps even essential, for getting your SharksHead system up and running. You can change these settings to achieve somewhat better battery life.

There are two features the TPH has on by default: packet relaying and LED system status. If neither of these are needed you can turn them off, and in doing so go from a weekly battery change cycle to something approaching a 6 to 12 month cycle.
